Driving Test Facts:

Your Driving Test consists of various parts as detailed below:

The Theory Test
The first part of the Theory Test consists of 50 question multiple choice questions to be answered within 57 minutes, questions are based around the Highway Code and road safety. In order to pass this test you will need to answer at least 43 questions correctly.

Hazard Perception Test
The second part of the test is taken immediately after the Theory Test. It consists of 14 video clips and is designed to test your ability to recognise road hazards. 13 of the clips contain a single hazard and one contains 2 hazards.

To pass this part of the test you need to attain 44 points out of a possible 75.

You will need to pass both parts of the test.

Practical Test
The Practical Test lasts up to 40 minutes and will take you though a variety of road and traffic conditions.

To pass your Practical Test you will need to complete the test without serious or dangerous errors and with no more than 15 minor driving errors.

Show Me – Tell Me
At the start of the Practical Test, the Examiner will ask you two questions based around the maintenance of the vehicle.

I offer a ‘hand out’ to all of my pupils , detailing questions and information you will require to ensure you are familiar with the vehicle and are able to answer questions correctly.

Once the test is competed the Examiner will advise if you have passed or failed, and offer a debrief.
